I was running BCM 2007 with Office Professional 2007. I downloaded the 2010
Professional Plus Beta and do not have access to Business Contact Manager. I
get a message when I try to load the add in com that the version is not
correct. The Beta software did not uninstall BCM 2007? What do I need to do?

Um. That is so untrue, DL.
BCM 2010 Beta is available for download, but it is a "separate"
download from the Office 2010 Beta! (A lot of people did not know
that...)
Download the BCM 2010 Beta from Microsoft website and try it out. I
especially like the new level of customization that they have allowed
you to do this time! :)
Hope that helps,
John
* oh, do remember to back up your BCM data (either do full database
back-up or do an export) before you install the new 2010 Beta. Just
in case anything goes wrong, you will not be losing anything.
To do a back up of your BCM 2007 data, you will have to have Office 2007
+ BCM 2007 running... This is for those of you who have not tried the
upgrade and want to give it a try. :\

okay,..so i uploaded the beta 2010 outlook as well as the business contact
manager, unfortunately I did not back up the bcm database beforehand. I
expected the beta would automatically pull the file in like it did my outlook
contacts. Now, I am stuck,...I have no idea how to get my old bcm contacts and
accounts in to the new beta,...and it is too late to go backwards. I tried
finding the original 2007 file,...but the closest I could find is a very
large .mdf file. help.

mahawks,
Is there any error message shown? What happens when you launch
Outlook/BCM and ask BCM to connect to your local database? It should
find it automatically (under your "%localappdata%\Microsoft\Business
Contact Manager" folder if you are on Vista or Win7) and prompt you
for data migration.
A second thing to try, if you are on Vista or Win7, is to launch
Outlook.exe process as an administrator. By elevating the Outlook
process, you are gaining some extra privileges with SQL, which can
resolve a number of database attachment issues.
Then if the step above did not work, there is always the very last
resort of uninstalling Office/BCM 2010 Beta and re-installing its 2007
counterparts. This will take some time but you can get your vital
data backed up / exported that way. Then try Office/BCM 2010 again.
Looking for good email program? Outlook Hi forum members, This is the first time I have posted at this forum, and to an excellent internet / web based email. With Microsoft, it appears I have two choices, Outlook, or Outlook Express. Up front I am stating, not interested in all the bells and whistles that that exists, whether it is free, or, I have to pay for it. So, between Outlook and Outlook Express, what are the pros and cons about one versus the other? Please do not about the stuff I have stated I am not interested in. Simply want to compare Outlook vs Outlook Express's email program and how either will serve me best. My needs: 1 - I will want to set up a minimum of three email addreses, for business and personal uses. 2 - Will need an address / conact book that can handle the details
