replace phone text in several eml files how?

Asked By z3r0

I have 400 eml files, those are some 200 floders with 2 email messages in
each,
basically a commercial response to answer repetitive emails quickly. The
problem is
I need to change the conact phone in those emails text, and doing one by one
is a huge task.

I could not find any way to search and replace that text in a quicker way.

Is there any solution / workaround?

Not that I know of.

Not that I know of. Maybe someone can come up with a script for this or have a
better idea

Since .eml are text files, if your eml files have no attachments, you
can try "InfoRapid Search & Replace" from www.inforapid.com to
automatically replace strings in ASCII files (.txt, .htm, .html etc.,)
under sub-folders. Make a backup first, and specify *.eml to search.

The program can be used to 'Search' for strings in most file types, but
'Replace' *should not* be applied to Binary files (doc, pdf etc.,) to
avoid getting corrupted!

I was thinking of TextPad for the same reasonsbut we cannot beat FreeWare.

Glad to share, though forgot mentioning it as freeware! I find this app
versatile and have used it extensively.

Thank you! Since I have 200 folders (some nested) with 1 to 5 eml in each,
is there a simple way to make those replacements?

I mean I cannot replace directly from dbx file right?
So how do I get those in a common windows folder without messing up the
outlook express
folder structure?

The program suggested can replace automatically in all sub-folders once
you select the main folder, and provide the Search and Replace strings.
Use it only for ASCII or the pure text files (.eml in your case). As
said, *should not* be tried on .DBX that are binary format and would
render them useless with manual modifications!

You can first try running Search & Replace by copying some .eml to
another folder before applying to all. Open an edited eml to see if it
worked fine.
