Outlook - "There are no items in this view." How to get the messages back?

I have done something very silly. I tried to download messages from this
newsgroup that are older than the oldest listed in my Outlook Express (i.e.
before November 2009), and managed to lose them all.
Is there a registry value or something I can change to tell my PC to
re-download the old messages?
Regards,
Roger.

Right-click on the newsgroup node in the tree list, select Properties, and
somewhere under there you will find a Reset function. That wipes away all
the posts and any tracking of previously downloaded posts. If you want to
download all posts again, also disable the option to only download N
messages at a time.

MSNews only keeps messages on their server for 90 days. Reset the group to
get all up till then.
While in a newsgroup: View | Current View. Make sure Show All Messages and
Group Messages By Conversation are checked.
Tools | Options | Read. Uncheck: Get XXX headers at a time. Then, right
click on the newsgroup in the Folder Tree | Properties | Local File |
Reset. Switch to another folder and then back and all available messages
will be downloaded again.
Or go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Clean Up Now and choose the
group, or server at the top and then Reset.
It would be a good idea to compact your folders when you are done.
Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything
until the compacting is completed.
My personal preference is to disregard synchronizing and rather have OE
check for news when it checks for mail. Tools | Accounts | News. Check: "
Include this account...........".

Thanks Bruce - all posts now visible again. And yes, I will be doing a
compaction very soon. The reason I was searching through the newsgroup (and
accidentally lost everything - doh!) was that I have a question about
compaction and wanted to check recent posts about it. But I will start a new
topic about that.
Thanks again,

Saving attachments to folder from public folder Outlook Hey there! I am currently working on a project that involves merging data from many into one Excel workbook for analysis. The csv files are sent to a public folder (outlook: \ Public Folders \ All Public Folders \ etc. . .) I thought the easiest way to do this would be to import the data straight from Outlook to the Excel file but after much painful testing I could not get it to main mailbox folders, not public and am unsure why. . . I have almost no experience with Outlook coding so any help is appreciated! This is the current code: If there is a instead of using a selection, that is fine too! Looking for good email program? Outlook Hi forum members, This is the first time I have posted at this forum, and to an excellent internet / web based email. With Microsoft, it appears I have two choices, Outlook, or Outlook Express. Up front I am stating, not interested in all the bells and whistles that that exists, whether it is free, or, I have to pay for it. So, between Outlook and Outlook Express, what are the pros and cons about one versus the other? Please do not about the stuff I have stated I am not interested in. Simply want to compare Outlook vs Outlook Express's email program and how either will serve me best. My needs: 1 - I do not waste anybody's time with stuff that is not relevant to my question. What is the future of Outlook? Outlook I have been using Outlook for about ten years and so have a lot of data that I wish to preserve. But Microsoft seem to be abandoning Outlook (unless you use are a corporate user and have Exchange server). I am a private across a variety of devices is still important to me. This is not possible with outlook - unless you have Exchange. So my question is - do I abandon outlook amd move to Windows live mail (with its shortfalls compared to Outlook)? Or should I hang on to Outlook in the hope that Microsoft will implement cloud synchronisation for Outlook? Outlook Discussions Outlook 2003
