Outlook - Outlook Express 6 & Binary File Messages

Hi, I have a question for the group.

When using OE 6 to read binary messages in NG's that have multiple posts
that have to be joined together in order to view the image (.jpg, .gif,
etc.), why are only the second or third parts only shown.

In other words, if you see in a message post that would normally show
extensions like (1/2, 2/2 etc.), how come only the 2/2 or however many parts
there are show up instead of complete post messages.

Do I need to adjust any settings or is this a problem with the news server
that the message posts are sent to ?

I am running Win XP/SP3.

Thanks.

A few things could be going on there.

1 - News posts have to wander from the news server that the poster used
to the news server that you are using for reading. This not a reliable
process. it is not unusual for some posts to get lost.

2 - Some parts may have been delayed in transit. If you are reading the
newsgroup before all parts have arrived and mark all messages as read on
leaving the newsgroup, when you come back in your will only see the new
parts.

3 - If you are only ever seeing the last post, then it is likely a
message size limit issue. Each server sets a message size limit. For
example, if your news server has a 100 KB limit, the original message
was 450 KB and the poster used a break apart size of 200 KB, that would
result in two 200 KB messages and one 50 KB. Your news server would
only accept that last one.

4 - One or more of the parts might have been caught by some spam
filtering. This would be more likely for the first part since it may
have some message text in addition to the first part of the attachment

5 - News servers often have a short retention of binary posts because of
size. This is typically days might could be as short as hours. It
might be based on data volume for a newsgroup. Because of arrival
timing some parts might age off before you see them all.

About all you can do is pay for a news server that takes binary groups
seriously.

Saving attachments to folder from public folder Outlook Hey there! I am currently working on a project that involves merging data from many into one Excel workbook for analysis. The csv files are sent to a public folder (outlook: \ Public Folders \ All Public Folders \ etc. . .) I thought the easiest way to do this would be to import the data straight from Outlook to the Excel file but after much painful testing I could not get it to main mailbox folders, not public and am unsure why. . . I have almost no experience with Outlook coding so any help is appreciated! This is the current code: If there is a instead of using a selection, that is fine too! Trying to get my head around IMAP Outlook My ISP have recently moved their servers to Gmail and Hence IMAP seems to be me a few headaches though, not least of which is the following. I have configured Outlook 2007 (SP2) to save my sent mail in the "Sent" folder on the IMAP server items from both machines. This seems to work fine when composing new email from within Outlook itself, by clicking the "New" button on the toolbar. If, however, I decided to send Email), the message gets saved in my local not even sure if this is an Outlook, Office or Windows issue (I am using Vista Ultimate SP2) but is this normal?
