Outlook - Send/receive error

When I open Outlook, all but the last one or two messages are downloaded and
I get this error message:

Task 'Name & Name - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC97) : 'Unknown Error
0x800CCC97'

When I click on Send/receive, all messages are downloaded including the ones
that already came the first time. Please help!

Version of Outlook?
Type of mail account?

Do you have a virus scanner installed which integrates itself with Outlook?
Uninstall this integration part of your virus scanner and try again; you would
still be sufficiently protected by your on-access scanner part of the virus

Thanks for your fast response Roady. Sorry I forgot to include the version
etc., it is Outlook 2003 and a POP3 mail account. I disabled the e-mail
scanner and not only did it fix the problem, but Outlook starts up and
downloads messages super fast!! Thanks so much for your help :)
