Outlook - Outlook 2003 keeps downloading mail after closing the program

Even after Outlook is closed, it will frequently continue to download mail
from the web server. As I have it configured to delete the messages from the
web server when down loading them, this prevents me from receiving the
messages on remote computers or BlackBerry. Is there a way to configure so
that it won't check for mail after I've closed the program?

If OL has closed properly it wont have the ability to poll for mail.
Obviously OL is still a running process. (Ctrl+Alt+Del , processess
tab...outlook.exe)
This is often caused by sync software, amongst other things

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you =
click either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their =
support for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the =
background to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and =
outgoing mail.
7. Some versions of Skype - check for updates.

Bulletproof Exiting Outlook (and not crashing) Outlook In building an Outlook integration, I try to exit Outlook this way: Marshal.ReleaseComObject(objOutlook) objOutlook = Nothing Before I did this, sometimes this code would not execute, and Outlook would then get a bit messed up. I would have to load Outlook and wait for it to repair and / or shut down Outlook in the Task Manager. I do not want this ever to happen to a user code the best way to handle this scenario. I want to bulletproof an application with Outlook, and I do not want to corrupt a user's Outlook file. I am just
mail merge to create email in Office 2007 Outlook Below is procedure I have been using for years to do mail merge to create bulk emails. This has worked perfectly with Office 2003, Got Office 2007 in May. This process was still working in August and I believe ONE Word document – which does not contain an active Mail Merge menu. And the Outlook initiation window never closes. There appears to be a problem with the interface between Outlook and Word. Is there a setting that will make this work? All documentation and info type: Form letter & Merge to: email & message subject: enter email subject 5. Click OK 6. Outlook causes TWO blank word documents to open. The second Word document will have an active verbiage into the "merge" document 8. Click “merge to email” 9. View emails in Outlook Outbox. I have been is no hookup wizard or anything I can find in the "accounts" or "options" in Outlook 97 that allows me to connect to my Comcast provider. Re: How to exit Outlook Outlook Add-ons that you have installed for Outlook can keep it alive for awhile. For example, the Personal Folders Backup (PFB) add-on save folder. Obviously it takes some time before the copy operation completes. During this time, Outlook has to remain running for the add-on to perform its tasks. When Outlook loads, it also has to load all the enabled add-ons. If an add-on crashes or hangs on load then Outlook also crashes or hangs. When Outloook exits, it must first unload all the loaded add-ons. If an add-on crashes or hangs on unload then Outlook also crashes or hangs on exit. If the add-on performs some task on Outlook's exit then Outlook has to remain loaded waiting for that add-on to complete
