Outlook - Outlook 2007 no longer opens.

Another app caused my outlook to open as if for the first time, with no
configuration. I recovered most of my messages from my ISP mail server and
most of my contacts from an older contacts.pst file. In mail mode, though,
there was no address book association. Tried to link contacts to mail, and
now Outlook will not even open. It gives the message "MS Office Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close." I tried safe mode and repair from
prompts with no luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled the whole program -
still no luck. Any suggestions?
